Indonesian Government to form Sunda Strait Authority to handle Sunda Strait Bridge

Indonesian Government shall establish Sunda Straits Authority with regards to its plan to build and maintain the project of Sunda Strait Bridge from Banten to Lampung.

It is said by Deputi Meneg PPN/ Kepala Bappenas Bidang Sarana dan Prasarana Dedy Supriadi Priatna on Bappenas building, Jalan Taman Surapati, Jakarta, Friday 02 Feb 09. But he also admitted that until now the regulation for this project is not yet clear.

This bridge, if materialized, shall have 29km in lengths and estimated to cost around Rp 90 trillion, shall be entirely financed by private investor while the government shall only to support it. To attract the investor, the Government shall offers forest concession and also tourism site stimulus in both end of the bridge in Banten and Lampung for 50 years.

Well, I hope this bridge can be built soon. With this bridge, I am sure the economy growth in Sumatra region shall expanding quickly. I hope then the government can also considered to build the bridge that shall connect Batam with its surrounding small island so the economy of those small island can also be uplifted.

  • hmmmm, I think the bridge itself should be built with tourism atmoshpere in it. So it won’t be just a bridge. But also a tourism object. With all of those islands that we have, it’s fantastic to see so many bridges stretching between islands. Maybe Indonesia can have the most bridges in the world :mrgreen:
