I read on Batam Pos that according to chairman of Indonesia Electronic Union (Gabungan Elektronika – Gabel) Rachmad Gobel, investors are to set US$100 – US$200 Millions to invest in Indonesia Electronic Industry. He said that in the middle discussion event among Political parties figures and businessmen in Jakarta.

This investment is triggered by the tighter importing regulation that starts in 1 Feb 2009. This regulation, in the end make Indonesian market so compelling for Electonics businessmen. Up to now the penetration of electronic house appliances is only 20% compares to the total Indonesian citizens.

Despite the economy crisis, Indonesian trade market for electronics is still very big, especially since now 50% of the market share is still dominated by imported products.

Rachmad Gobel added that this investment is not made by new investor, but instead done by current electronic company that already exist in Indonesia. They shall open up the production capacity, especially in TV and electronics appliances. He also mentioned that this additional capacity, shall make Indonesia to have electronics export capability when the world economy is getting better.

This a good news for people in Indonesia, especially for people who looking for jobs in Electonics and Engineering. I believe in the next 1-2 years there will be quite a lot of new employment and jobs opportunities in Indonesia. I just hope this shall made additional jobs and careers oppoturnities also for the one who already has an experience in that industry :)
