According to book publish in 2009 by Batam Industrial Development Authority, shorten as BIDA (or Otorita Batam-OB in Indonesia), there are 21 (twenty one) Industrial Estates/Parks on Batam Island. Most of them is located on north side of Batam (such as Mega Cipta, Malindo, Union, etc). The biggest industrial estate in Batam, Kabil, is located in East side of Batam, near Kabil Seaport. But the most famous Industrial estate in Batam, Batamindo is located in the center of Batam.

In the recent years, new Industrial estates located in the west side in Batam, flourished and have an huge expansion due the rapid growth of marine and shipyard industries on this area. Industrial estate such as Bintang II or Latrade is now considered by many as the new attraction for Marine/Shipyard industry investor in Indonesia.
