I read an interesting post on this site mentioning that Bali local government is planning to build several plants to convert garbage into non-organic fertilizer. This action is actually to promote more on the Environmental aspect of the Bali as international tourist destination.

As mentioned on the posting, the first phase of the project to make Bali as the green province in Indonesia, the conversion plants shall be built around the area of Besakih temple in Karangasem, Goa Lawah in Klungkung, and Kintamani Batur temple in Bangli.

I read an interesting news a few days ago, that Batam Island, Indonesia once again shall be the host of international event. This time, it is the 4th Asian Vegetarian Congress (AVC). This Asian Vegetarian Congress shall took place in Novotel Hotel in Nagoya area Batam Island Indonesia on 6-10 Oct 09.

It is expected that this international event shall bring more than 1000 visitors from around Indonesia, Asia Pacific regions and even visitor from the European countries. According to the news, at least 1000 participants already confirmed their attendance in this Asian Vegetarian Congress in Batam Island, Indonesia.

According to Jowly Yao, chairman of the daily operations AVC 2009, 14 countries in Asia and Europe has sign up in this congress. The attending visitor is expected from countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China, Japan, Dubai, Iran, India, Hong Kong and so on. Meanwhile, from Europe it is represented by England, France and Belgium.

Indonesian Statistic figures – Aug and Jul 09

Central Statistic Bureau of Indonesia (BPS) just recently released some Indonesian Economy statistics numbers for Aug 09 and July 09. Here is some of the highlights :

Inflation rate (Aug 09):
- On Aug 09, inflation rate is 0.56 percent and Customer Price Index (CPI) is 115.25. From 66 cities across Indonesia, 63 cities are having inflation while 3 cities are having deflation.
- The highest inflation happened in Manokwari (2.00 percent – CPI 130.26) and the lowest inflation happened in Singkawang (0.03 percent – CPI 117.77).
- The highest deflation rate happened in the city of Sorong (0.76 percent – CPI 134.01), while the lowest deflation rate happened in Palembang (0.14 percent – CPI 116.27).
- Inflation rate on this year (Jan- Aug 09) is measured as 1.22 percent, while the year-on-year inflation rate (Aug 08 – Aug 09) is recorded as 2.75 percent.

In Jul 09, the Indonesian Inflation rate is 0.45% with Customer Index Price (CPI) of 114.61. From the 66 cities, there are 62 cities which have inflation while 4 cities are having deflation. The highest inflation happened in Sorong (2.19%) with CPI of 135.04. The lowest inflation rate happened in Purwokerto (0.01%) with CPI of 114.57. On the other hand, the lowest deflation happened in Jayapura (0.56%) with CPI of 114.20 dan the lowest happened in Samarinda and Mamuju (0.18%) with the CPI of 118.88 and 118.69 respectively.

So on the last 7 month of 2009 (Jan-Jul), Indonesia inflation rate is 0.66%, while year-on-year inflation rate (Jul 08 – Jul 09) is 2.71%.

This is an example of good actions made by Indonesia to keep its farthest island for other countries hands! I read on this newspaper that Nipah Island, the farthest island on Riau Archipelago, shall make as tourist attraction, especially in EcoTourism.

This plan was mentioned by Ardiwinata, Chief Officer of Batam Tourism Board during the 2 days joint activities from Batam government, Indonesian Navy, and Boy Scouts in Nipah Island last week.
